Job Description

Owkin Lab is looking for a passionate data science intern for the Clinical Group in Paris.

The Clinical Group, at the confluence of statistics, machine learning and causality collaborates with Hospitals, Academics and Pharmaceutical companies to discover new insights, build models and develop new methodologies/algorithms on their datasets and scientific inquiries. The group’s focus is on text and clinical data, which excludes imaging and molecular data. The group collaborates tightly with other Lab groups for transversal projects and with the federated learning research group.

During the internship, you will build cardiovascular risk prediction models with clinical data from multiple international hospitals, working with the project team. This will include preprocessing, data exploration, building models, and a healthy dose of skepticism, challenging the data, the methodology and the results. Complementarily, you will conduct a research project with the topic to be discussed, mentored by an experienced researcher.

Preferred Experience


  • Currently finishing or enrolled in a MS/PhD in machine learning, statistics or an associated field
  • Knowledge and familiarity with machine learning and/or statistical learning fundamentals
  • Python or R for data analysis and data manipulation
  • Experience with Linux/Unix-like environments
  • Fluent in English


  • Participation in data science projects and competitions
  • Contribution to publications in conferences and journals (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, JASA, Journal of Causal Inference, etc.)
  • Knowledge in causality
