About the role:
Our partnership operations activities are growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking individuals with robust experience to join our Partnership management team as a full-time Contract Negotiator.
This role plays a key role in driving deal closing activities for the EU activities.
The Contracts Negotiator is responsible for assisting in defining, developing and implementing policies and good practices necessary to accelerate negotiations and close deals with academic, public and private centers in order for Owkin to access data and fuel its activities.
The Contract Negotiator will serve as advisor in negotiations for academic data access and collaboration agreements and contracts.
You will also act as mediator when required.
The Contract Negotiator, will report directly to the Head of Partnerships, EU and work transversally with each partnership manager part of the Partnership Team. They will be working closely with the Legal department.
Excellent people skills are required as they must develop good relationships when negotiating with various parties. The candidate should possess good presentation skills and an eye for detail when driving deals by evaluating contract agreements and documents, negotiating terms with centers, and resolving contract disputes.
The candidate must have proven successes in business negotiations, with a key focus on IP.
Also, they will have very good communications skills, excellent organization ability, business acumen, and legal know-how (with IP focus).
This position is remote or EU office-based (Paris, Nantes, London)
In particular, you will:
- Is responsible for assisting the Partnership team in preparing, negotiating and tracking Data Sharing Agreements and Collaboration Agreements in line with the pre-defined budgets, terms and timelines.
- Involved in preparing, negotiating, and tracking any possible amendments to the above mentioned Agreements.
- Will assist each Partnership Manager to proactively identify center’s contract related risks and potential roadblocks
- Participates in corporate initiatives and actions that ensure the continued success of Owkin
About you
Required qualifications / experience:
- Degree in life sciences required (MD, PharmD, or Master / PhD, in biology, bioinformatics, biological engineering or similar) OR degree from business school
- Data access expertise is a must, experience in biomedical research, pharmaceutical companies a plus.
- Proven successes in business negotiations,IP expertise preferred
- Ability to work with internal and external customers to meet project-specific goals
- Ability to manage high volume work and meet rigorous deadlines
- Flexibility to strategically manage negotiations with minimal oversight
- Ability to interact with center’s PI, legal, IT, TTO departments and other functional areas as secondary project contact for contracting issues and questions (First line negotiator being the Partnership Manager)
- Ability to manage time and project requirements based on project deliverables
